Fees are estimates for planning only. eBay may change its fee structure; verify current fees on ebay.com before listing.
How the fees work
- Final value fee: a percentage of the total sale amount (sale price plus the shipping you charge the buyer). Most categories are 13.6%, with lower rates for guitars, heavy equipment, and high-end sneakers, and higher rates for books and media, jewelry, and handbags.
- Per-order fee: a flat $0.30 on orders of $10 or less, or $0.40 on orders over $10, charged once per order.
- High-value sales: the fee drops on the portion above $7,500 in most categories (2.35%), above $5,000 for jewelry (9%), above $2,000 for handbags (9%), and above $15,000 for heavy equipment (0.5%).
Tips for keeping more of every sale
- Watch the fixed per-order fee on cheap items: $0.40 on a $5 sale is 8% before the percentage fee even starts.
- Top Rated Plus status cuts 10% off the final value fee on qualifying listings.
- Sellers with a Below Standard rating pay a 6% surcharge on top of the normal fee.
- An eBay Store subscription, international sales, and Promoted Listings ad rates change the math and are not included here.
